If you haven’t already heard of Logan Street Market, we’re here today to tell you exactly what it is, the vendors, and why you should visit for yourself. Logan Street Market is home to many of our great customers at Louisville Label. We are proud to work with such community-based clients, focused on giving back to the city of Louisville and enriching the lives of others.
Background on Logan Street Market
Logan Street Market is a market and registered Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), focused on a social mission while running a sustainable business in the Louisville community. Their mission is “to provide an avenue for local and regional food, and for culture economies to engage the community through the timeless public market model.” Their approach is providing a communal space to the county to be able to interact, grow, and work together.
Founders of Logan Street Market, Mike and Medora Safai, were inspired by the Pike Place Market located in Seattle, and decided that Louisville was missing one of its own. They saw how a community place could bring people together through food and drink. This idea inspired them to invite over 20 local vendors to set up shop in the heart of the Shelby Park Neighborhood. The Safais also own a local coffee shop, Safai Coffee Company located in the Highlands in Louisville.
“We have loved Louisville since moving here over 20 years ago. I’ve always said it’s only missing two things, a Market and the ocean. Well, I can only bring one of those here!” -Mike Safai, Founder of Logan Street Market

Ziba’s Bistro serves a variety of dishes inspired by my Burkinabe (African) roots along with French, Italian, and American styles. The bistro is owned and operated by Chef Bapion Ziba- Originally from Tiaré, a small city in Burkina Faso, Chef Ziba began to cook for himself at the age of 13. Discovering the creative freedom that cooking brought, Chef Ziba pursued a culinary career studying culinary in France and in the US.
He pursued Logan Street Market as a great opportunity to open a restaurant and for Louisville to get fresh food. As an immigrant, he grew up around large markets that have restaurants, sell fresh produce, and have local crafts, so he is excited to be a part of this movement in food in Louisville.
