From a kitchen in the woods origin, to breakfast tables around the region, Sweetgrass Granola is growing a business that is becoming a positive force in the diets of many, one step at a time.
When Jacob and Carolyn Gahn set out to find a healthy alternative to the heavily processed, sugary boxed cereals, they figured they could take a go at it themselves. Armed with a plan to provide a quality product to their community that coincided with their convictions concerning local economies and organic foods, they started creating a granola that would enhance and supplement diets in a positive manner.
Sweetgrass Granola is the only product of its kind that uses both sorghum molasses and wildflower honey produced from the regional grasses of Kentucky. Jacob and Carolyn personally hand bake the granola right here in Kentucky. The Gahns believe in investing in the local economy and the rich flavors of the area. Sweetgrass is made up of mainly all organic ingredients (whole rolled oats, puffed rice and millet, raisins, walnuts, coconut and more) and there are no preservatives or genetically modified ingredients that are hard to pronounce.
The unique flare of Sweetgrass caught the eye of Louisville Label and they began working together to create a label for the granola that was a good fit for their product. That label creation finally came together, and in May of 2013 Sweetgrass Granola and Louisville Label teamed up to take on the label printing responsibilities and promote this locally grown and created wonder food.
