They say beer is their spirit animal. Nestled behind a grain silo on Barret Avenue, Mile Wide Beer Co. was once a biscuit factory as well as Louisville’s first brewpub. And their dream all started with a couple buddies, a few beers and one great idea.
In June of 2016, Mile Wide came to us in need of labels for their canned beer and tap labels. Louisville Label happily obliged. The current labels for Mile Wide brewery align perfectly with their motto that, like the Ohio River, they never stop moving forward.
Truthfully, Mile Wide has a great story behind the business. It all started with a great idea between a couple of friends. Matt Landon, Patrick Smith, Scott Shreffler and Kyle Tavares have all worked tirelessly to take a brewing idea into a full-fledged business.
In December of 2015, the Mile Wide team moved into 636 Barret Avenue, just behind Diamond Pub. The building was originally part of a Pillsbury factory, where biscuits transitioned from grain in the silos to finished frozen biscuits. There is also a bit of brewing history to this building, as it once housed The Silo, Louisville’s very first Brewpub. After one year of preparing their business for the public, they finally opened their doors in December 2016. While it’s only been a few months of business, they have received overwhelming support from their fans.

We encourage you to stop by Mile Wide brewery and unwind with some great local brew. They have plenty of games like dartboards, ring toss, and Noah’s Arcade featuring a few classic arcade and pinball machines.
Here are a few of their year-round brews:
- White Ale – Belgian-Style Witbier
- Idlewild Vol. 1 – Pale Ale with Mosaic & Equinox
- McPoyle – Milk Stout
They brew a wide variety of other styles as well, including Wooderson, a Mesquite Smoked Blonde Ale and Good Evening, Miss, an English-Style Mild Ale. You can find everything on tap here. They also rotate a hoppy beer series called the Scavenger Series. For this particular series, they have a few different IPA recipes that are brewing, but change the hops every time we brew them. Its one of our favorites series to brew, and has quickly become what we’re known for here at Mile Wide.
